On Wednesday, March 5th, BuildingEnergy 2013 attendees were given the opportunity to tour our Building Technology Showcase construction site in the Boston Innovation District. BuildingEnergy, an annual conference and trade organised by the Northeast Sustainable Energy Association (NESEA), is a three-day event that brings together a variety of professionals working in the fields of renewable energy and high-performance buildings. Since its inception, BuildingEnergy has grown to become one of the highlights of New England’s cleantech calendar; last year’s BE conference drew over 4,000 attendees from 31 states and 14 countries.
With the building just weeks away from being officially move-in ready, tour guests received an extensive walkthrough of our office and lab spaces, getting a first-hand look at the energy-efficient systems and measures that make up the BTS. Participants were also given access to the project’s management team – representatives from Fraunhofer CSE, BTS architects DiMella Shaffer, and general contractor Gilbane were on hand to answer questions about systems, materials, and the general decision-making process that informed the retrofit project.
