We’re proud to announce that LayTec GmbH’s X Link quality assurance tool, based on a patented process developed at Fraunhofer CSE, is one of several photovoltaic (PV) industry products shortlisted at the 2012 Solar Industry Awards. Officially unveiled earlier this year, the X Link allows for non-destructive assessment of lamination quality – a crucial metric for assessing long-term reliability in solar modules, and a potentially game-changing technology for solar manufacturers, who previously relied on destructive chemical testing for this kind of quality assurance.
The X Link is competing for the “PV Process Award,” a category acknowledging excellence, efficiency and improved yield management in the PV manufacturing process. The system’s nomination acknowledges several benefits of this in-line metrology system, including decreased by-product waste, efficient real-time control and reliable feedback on the stability and longevity of the PV modules.
The Solar Industry Awards are presented by Solar PV Management Magazine and recognize innovative research and development in the PV field. Voting is open through September 2, with a formal award ceremony to follow in Frankfurt, Germany on September 24. If you would like to support Fraunhofer CSE and LayTec AG, cast your vote here!
Congratulations to our PV team on this well-deserved nomination!
